IPS is positioned to enter the sports/recreation equipment sector that generated sales of $20.2 billion in 2009. Football, one of few sports projected to increase equipment sales in 2010, is arguably the most popular sport in the U. S. IPS is scheduled for delivery to retail and distributor markets by Spring 2013.
The following was stated by Easton-Bell Sports, Inc. (Riddell) in their March 15, 2010 Form 10-K: “According to the SGMA (Sporting Goods Manufacturers Association), tackle football attracted approximately 7.7 million United States participants and total United States manufacturers’ sales of football equipment were estimated at $496.0 million in 2008. As the largest and most popular sport for high school and college males, the football market is expected to continue to grow. Competitive tackle football leagues, such as the NCAA, high school leagues and Pop Warner, have increasingly emphasized the safety of participants by enforcing exacting equipment standards with an increased focus on the protective characteristics of helmets. As a result, football helmets have typically commanded higher price points, as well as faster equipment replacement and reconditioning rates. Due to the prevalence of dedicated organizations and players that demand a high level of safety without sacrificing performance, we believe that growth in sales of high performance, technologically advanced football equipment, including helmets and shoulder pads, as well as reconditioning services resulting from this trend will continue to provide a growth opportunity.”
