March 10, 2012 - Skiing Canadian skier Nick Zoricic died of head injuries resulting from a crash at Grindel.
January 20, 2012 - Skiing Sarah Burke, from Canada, one of the greatest skiers of her generation, died due to a serious head injury she suffered on January 11. The injury occurred while she was training for the gravity-defying superpipe – an event that defined her career – at Park City in Utah. The 29-year old had torn her vertebral artery and suffered "irreversible damage to her brain".

LeGrand’s injury is a fracture at the third and fourth cervical vertebrae. An optimistic prognosis is that LeGrand’s recovery is similar to former Buffalo Bills player Kevin Everett who was able to walk again four months after breaking his neck during a NFL game in 2007.
October 4, 2010 - NFL New York Giants linebacker Mathias Kiwanuka will visit a neck specialist Monday to get a second opinion on the bulging disk in his neck.
December 31, 2009 - Snowboarding Snowboarder Kevin Pearce sustained a massive head injury while training in Park City, Utah.
